This work was inspired by the Joe Walsh Song "Life's Been good." This is printed canvas that has been streched on to a frame. The orangish/red cars have been cut out, stuffed with poly-fil and stiched to create a crafty and feminine quality. It represent the line 'My Maserati does 185, I lost my license now I don't drive..." Not only is the dichotomy of male and female play a significant role in my work I am also influenced by the past. In my screenprinting you will see that music from the past serves as a point of reference in my work mostly because the car culture becomes part of the music. Not only a personal connection and comment on male vs. female but also a tribute to Joe Walsh!

Awhile

It has been awhile since my last post and alot has gone on. The big thing is I GRADUATED with my BFA!!! Now what? Looking for jobs, no fun. I have also acquired a new camera so here is some of my work. I will attempt to keep it in chronological order as it is easier to see where I am headed but the dates become blurred since I was working on several things at once.

These are separate pieces which make up a 'his and hers' set. I have grown up with these cars. The 1967 nova SS 283 small block chevy is my mothers and has 88k original miles as her grandfather purchased this car new off the show room floor. The 1967 chevelle SS with original 396 big block chevy is my fathers and needs to be restored but I still love to drive that car and turn heads. As you will see with my work I am influenced by objects defined as masculine or feminine. I often super-impose and and combine male and female images and themes within my work.
